About Me

Pensacola Beach, FL
I live on Pensacola Beach, just past 23 ave. Most of the time there is swell I'll be surfing, but I'm going to try and take more pictures for this site. I just moved here from tampa so come introduce yourself if you see me shooting or surfing. I can also email you better quality pics.

Wednesday

Winds are light right now over here on the beach but forecast to much stronger throughout the day. Waves are chest+, didn't look as big as yesterday but there could be some plus size sets still coming through since the pensacola buoy is 9ft @8 seconds.  Get out there and surf.

No first hand report  until january 3,  I am headed back down to Tampa for the holidays but I will try and post a forecast when there are waves expected.

Merry Christmas

Mid-morning update.

As I sit here at my desk trying to get work finished before Christmas, I'm  looking out the window at the Sound and its basically glass out there, a little breeze now and then and it is still raining. Waves should be really fun, hopefully it stays this way all day and the Pensacola sandbars are actually working!

bk

Rainy Tuesday

Head high out there, watching some guys catch some fun ones on the navarre cam.  Winds not as bad as initially forecast, yet.  Get out there, be safe, and have fun.

Monday afternoon

Its built a little but still looks pretty nasty out there. waist high but no real good break to speak of.

Monday Morning

Its only knee high out back this morning and choppy.  Winds ENE around 10, shifting more to the E and south as the day goes on should result in an increase in waves to possibly chest high. Partly cloudy skys.

Tomorrow sees a large increase in size, as well as winds. Buoys supposed to get up to around 8 feet but sse winds around 20 knots, and unfortunately the wind that was supposed to turn offshore wednesday now looks like it won't.

But can't complain, we have waves, and if you watch your winds you might score a fun light wind session, the winds have not been cooperating with the forecast lately in terms of speed, so you never know.

Foggy Friday

Its foggy out there folks, I couldn't see the waves but based on the buoys (3.6 ft @6 sec) and the size last night I would guess around knee to waist high, gotta find the right sandbar. haha good luck. Wind is currently light out of the E and sometimes with a little North in it.  I would say it should stay about this size all day but we'll see.

bk

Bonus forecast, waves starting again monday, looking at a possibility of good conditions next wednesday morning

Thursday, December 15, 2011

Thursday

Good Morning. Didn't really get to look at it but my best guess is around waist high from what I saw driving to work.  Wind is already kicking up abit and is ESE around 10. Hopefully it sticks around and maybe improves some in the afternoon.

bk

Waves on Wednesday

Thigh to waist high on the beach, definitely an improvement.  Wind is 11 mph out of the east and the buoys are at 4.6 ft out of the ese.  Definitely looking rideable, hoping for a nice afternoon, after-work session. There are some nice little sandbar set ups that have started developing in the last few weeks so get out there and explore.

bk

Monday Morning

Windy, rainy, and cold, not the ideal conditions for sure.  Didn't get to check the waves but I would guess around knee high on the beach, there is still alot of north in the wind direction keeping it from building. We'll see what will happen as the week goes on though, winds supposed to switch more east and south by wednesday.

Tuesday Morning Report and Forecast

Looks waist to chest down on east pensacola beach, wind still out of the south 5-10.  Wind should switch offshore sometime this afternoon, my reports say around three o'clock, funny that is when I get off work.  Hopefully the waves still have some size left, buoys were at 5 feet overnight and have dropped to 4 as of this morning. Hoping for a warmer repeat of last tuesday. Hit me up with reports and updates, and I'll try and keep you updated.

Recap: Last night at the pier was big and chunky, and absolutely detonating on that sand bank right next to the pier. Head high, shifty, giant rainstorms with 30 kt gusts, a fifteen minute period of glass after the rain, you  name it, it happened yesterday afternoon.

Bk

Monday midday

Been watching some of the cams at work and it doesn't look too bad, definitely chest+ and trying to regain some form.  Trying to make a decision for after work so if anyone has any updates leave a comment or an email, much appreciated.

bk

Monday, December 5

Looks like chest high out on the beach, could be bigger but the outside sandbar is washing the larger waves out.  Wind is currently not as bad as it has been, but that will change soon. For now SE at 10 mph.  Cloudy out, looks like rain to the east of us. Size should stay the same for the rest of the day.

Sorry for the non report yesterday, I went out to check it and ended up running all over Gulf Breeze doing errands, and then checking every spot I could think of to find a good sandbar. Ended up not surfing, but there was a good amount of people at the not so secret, secret point.  Didn't look that good to me.

Updates later, wetsuit still for sale, that is all

Saturday Evening

Chest high waves this afternoon. Then got to see my Dawgs blow it in the second half. Should be chest + tomorrow. Picures here https://picasaweb.google.com/110834664940916101410/December32011

Mostly from the contest.

bk

Saturday 9 am

Looks like about knee to thigh down here on the beach. Should be building all day. Already a good bit of wind on it from the ENE, forecast to swing around to SE. Buoy is up to five feet, it was only at 3.5 last night when I checked it.  I'll be headed down to the contest area in a little while here to shoot some pictures and go for a surf once the swell builds. See ya out there.

Oh yeah, wetsuit for sale, billabong the solution gold, size large. Well used but gets the job done and keeps you very warm. I'll have it down at the contest so just come and ask. 100 bucks or a set of k2.1 fins or a new set of lost mayhem fins. FCS.

Friday December 2

Things are looking up, waves should start building overnight and through tomorrow morning, should be chest+ through the weekend.  Temps on the way up as well so that should be nice.  Cya out there

Wetsuit for sale

Want to sell my Billabong Solution 3/2 wetsuit. It is a large, used but in good condition, no tears or holes.  This is  a zipperless suit that has kept me, and will keep you, very warm in the upcoming months. It was just a little too long for me in the legs.

Trying to get 100 bucks for it to help with the cost of the suit I just bought, or a set of FCS tc redline carbon flex fins.

Forecast

Been playing with the pictures from yesterday, and found a few cool tricks to brighten them up and enhance some of the colors.  If you see some pics of yourself from yesterday or any of the other albums, shoot me an email and let me know who you are and I'll try and touch them up. Just don't want to redo the whole album.  Also if you are gonna save as and download the pictures and post them up somewhere else, i.e. facebook at least shoot me some credit. I don't mind people using them, it would just be nice to know who's seeing them and get some credit.

In the near forecast,  building waves to chest high saturday, chest + sunday and monday.  Cya out there.

benji

Wednesday

Basically flat and unrideable on the beach. Might be a tiny bump here or there. Cold

Tuesday Night

The wind was crankin off shore, the swell was dying, but yall were on it. Fast clean rights on the east side of the pier, and a very nice bowl on the west side of the pier that I wish I had more time to shoot, but there were only a couple guys over there.  I just put a bunch of pictures up here
https://picasaweb.google.com/110834664940916101410/20111129Nov29Barrels

I didn't try and touch them up that much, but If you have a few pictures I can try.

It was tough shooting out there today,  dwindling light, numb fingers, and the wind shaking the camera.  So some of them are gonna be blurry but it is what it is.  Enjoy.

Here are a couple that stood out to me.

Barrels, wipeouts, and cold fingers.

Chest high fast offshore barrels this evening when the wind went offshore.  More details and pics later once I thaw out.

bk

Noon update

Definitely getting bigger, but also getting much windier out of the NW.  I'd call it waist to chest, maybe a little bigger, but that was just a view from the road driving past Margaritaville, don't actually know about the form.

bk

Tuesday

Didn't check it on the way to work but I would guess thigh high beach, maybe a little bigger at other spots. I do know one thing though, its cold out.  At work all day, possible afternoon update later.

Evening update and pics

Waist high+ and kinda crowded at 18th.  Doesn't look all that great though.

The rest of the pictures are here
https://picasaweb.google.com/110834664940916101410/20111120November20Surf, here https://picasaweb.google.com/110834664940916101410/20111120Nov20surfII, and here https://picasaweb.google.com/110834664940916101410/Nov20surf3.

Sorry I had issues uploading them.  But they are all from around 9-12 this morning at 18th and the pier.

I'll be gone until next monday so no more reports, but I'll try and give my best guess when I can get to a computer.  Right now it looks small but rideable through wednesday, when the next cold front knocks it flat, and then building again friday and into the weekend.

Sunday Midday

About waist high everywhere, wind is pretty light, but the swell just has a little funk in it. The pier had a nice wave everyonce in awhile when it would hit the sandbar right. Took a ton of pictures this morning at 18th and the pier. Should have those up by the end of the day. Might go back out for more.

Recap, last night the wind died/went side-offshore, really good sized waves at one or two spots with some serious juice, breaking way outside.

bk

Nasty Day

Just checked everywhere from the Navarre to the Point and couldn't find one spot that I even came close to want to paddle out at.  Pier is all messed up, inside thigh high shorebreak, outside bar is breaking up the swells. Current is super bad on the beach, Navarre looked small and sloppy. The point was offshore but looked weak and kinda closing out, ok for longboards I guess.  Not to mention its crappy, cold, and rainy out. Guess I'm watching football, I'll head out and check again around 3

Mid morning update

Just went exploring, the pier is not breaking like it has been, there is a small group of guys way outside surfing a junky looking wave. cross had a decent wave, kinda mushy. Best I've seen is the beaches of the avenues but I'm kinda worried about the drift. There isn't much of a tide swing today, but hopefully enough to change the conditions locally for the better. Off to do more exploring.

bk

Saturday

Looks like chest+ out here on the east beaches of pensacola.  Side offshore wind with tilted east swell actually making it look kind of appealing down here, drift probably isn't that fun though. Right now, its cloudy, cold, and misty, but hopefully that wears off as the day goes on. I'll be out and about today surfing, and shooting pics. Have fun and be safe.

bk

Friday, November 18, 2011

Friday Morning

Its starting to build, about knee high on the beach with hard east winds. Should build up to chest high by this afternoon with lots of wind. Pensacola buoy at 7.5 ft with winds out of the east. More updates later

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Thursday

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but its almost flat.  There is a knee high line trying to come through, but the wind is just holdiing it back and its not really rideable. Surfing last night we thought it might have a chance if the wind didn't blow to hard overnight but the gulf has its way with us again.  North wind this morning around 15, should clock to a more easterly and  southerly direction tomorrow to set us up for another swell tomorrow afternoon through sunday, with saturday having the most size, and wind.

Overall the last three or four days exceeded my expectations of what we would get from this swell. Lets hope the next swells are the same.

Wednesday

Halfway through the week.  Almost.  Anyways, the beach looked about waist high but I didn't look for that long.  Probably a little bigger at the right sandbar. Wind blowing S around 10 and forecast to increase and switch toward the SW as the day goes on.  Warm out and overcast, probably gonna rain at some point, it poured out here on the beach last night.

bk

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Evening update

Surfed behind the church for a fun evening of waist high waves, with some nice chest high sets. If you picked the right one it would run right down the sandbar.  Had a good time just talkin surf with a couple other guys. Made my day.  Should be more waves tomorrow, but more wind.  Sorry no pics, been surfin too much.

bk

Tuesday

Thigh-waist high on the beach. Winds have all but died out, here on the sound it is just glass calm.

bk

Monday, November 14, 2011

Monday

About waist high on the beach, winds not too bad...yet. I am sure they will pick up later today. Probably 10-15 out of the s or se.  Its overcast now but warm out. I'll be out on the boat all day working, but I'll try and update or get out there and take some pictures this afternoon.

bk

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Sunday II

Just checked the pier, about a dozen guys out less than waist high.  Not all that inviting but cleaner than the beach.  Three or four guys out at 18th when I rode my bike by, poor quality.  I'll check back in this afternoon.

bk

Sunday

Knee to waist here on the beach but basically unrideable, se wing 15mph+, gonna go out and look around in a little while and report back then.  Waves should increase through tuesday.

Thursday, November 10, 2011

Thursday

I didn't see it but I'm gonna take a wild guess and say its flat. Its been blowing out of the north at 15+ since 8 o'clock last night.

In the future, the models can't seem to get their act together, but it looks like sunday will be the biggest, but quality probably won't be too great.  Things can change quick though, so keep a heads up.

bk

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Knee high on the beach, maybe a little bigger at the best sandbars.  Wind SE 10.  Cold front is going to come through this evening/tonight and blow it flat.  But waves will rebuild to rideable saturday afternoon/sunday and onward.

times on posts

fixed it

Blech

Pretty dismal out there. Just checked everywhere from the cross to navarre. Maybe waist high at the best spots.

Sandbars are just messed up, and high tide isn't helping.  Pretty depressing after seeing the size on the beach this morning. Oh well, more waves on the way later this weekend.

bk

Tuesday

More waves than expected today, both the beach and the pier look about waist to chest high, form not that great. Low tide and ese 10-15 wind messing with it but hopefully it gets better as the day goes on.  Its been getting alot smaller in the evenings with the decreasing winds, so take that into account, but hope that the waves continue like this throughout the day for us people who have to work.

Sunday Pictures

Computer is fixed finally.

Pictures from sunday afternoon here   https://picasaweb.google.com/110834664940916101410/20111107Nov6Surf

Waves were getting pretty small this evening, the wind all but dissapeared. its picking up again now though over here at the beach, my guess is waist high at best spots tomorrow morning.

bk

Monday Morning

Wind around 10 ENE, low tide, waves at best spots up to about chest, the beach is definitely smaller unless you search out a really good sandbar. Waves should continue as long as the wind does, its been dying off in the afternoon the last few days.

I have pictures from yesterday but my home computer crashed yesterday so I'm working on that and should have some pictures up this evening or tomorrow.

bk

Sunday, November 6, 2011

Waist high at the one spot that has been breaking half decently. About 40 guys on it.  Rest of the beach smaller. Wind started to die off and so did the waves.  Pics later
Chest high, windy, hope the clouds go away soon.

Late Report

Woke up feelin like crap just now, so sorry for no early report.  But.... I can hear the waves from my window so there are definitely waves, just gotta explore and find the right sandbar.  Have fun

Waist high near the pier, less than that down this way. Wind seems to  be dropping along with the waves. Hopefully they pick up tomorrow.

Pics coming later

Small Saturday

Less than knee high down here on the beach. Wind is blowing so hopefully it picks up for the NSSA contest.  I'll be down there shooting this afternoon if the waves pick up so come by and say hey.

Waves bigger tomorrow.

Friday

Flat, like a lake. Hard north winds overnight killed what little was left. Waves coming this weekend.

ps Its cold

Thursday, November 3, 2011

Bad

Waves looked awful, only knee-thigh range, but super short period between waves. Wind blowing so hard I felt like I was going backwards on my bike.  Good news is there will be waves this weekend.  I'll probably head down to the NSSA contest saturday and take some pics so come by and say hey.

Tomorrow-flat

Saturday- building

Sunday- Chest high and windy?

Thursday Morning

Conditions have deteriorated, at least where I checked down towards Portofino. A 15 mph SE wind combined with a pretty high tide isn't really helping things.  Who knows it might be better elsewhere.  Will try and update/pictures around 4.

Afternoon report and pictures

See pictures from today around 330 here,     Sorry about the blurry ones, I need to get a tripod.
https://picasaweb.google.com/110834664940916101410/20111102November2Surf

To me looked about the same as yesterday, but the form was a little better and there must have been a little more push bc the shortboarders were getting some decent waves. Wanted to surf but had to go back to work, blah. Should be more waves tomorrow with the wind out of a more southerly direction before going flat friday.  Once again, spread the word about the site, share it on fb with your friends.  I know if a picture of me surfing is out there I'd want to see it.

Wednesday Morning 7:15 Report, 18th ave

Looks about the same size as yesterday evening, see the pictures below.  Its just windier and I think the high tide is holding it back/making it mushier. Noone is out. Hopefully it gets better as the day goes on.

Don't forget to watch the rip curl pro search live online.  They started at 10 am our time yesterday. Hopefully Slater can win a heat and the title today.

Slater already won his first heat, one more and he'll have his 11th world title.

Got a report that the waves are up to waist high, but choppy. Might try to take some pictures this evening

Tuesday, 11-1-11

Morning guys, the wind has switched more out of the east but the waves aren't showing it yet, still less than knee high and choppy when I checked 18th on the way to work. Hopefully it builds some in the afternoon. I'll try and update the report around 4. Don't forget to check out the pics below from Sunday October 9. If you were surfing Pensacola Pier that afternoon I probably have pics of you.  Waves tomorrow?

FLAT

Its been flat and it will continue to be, at least for a few more days.  No pics this weekend from whatever Rina swell we get, headed east for UF/UGA. Supposed to be some choppy waves over that way sunday. Wax em up

Spanish are here

It was flat all day, and will be tomorrow. The spanish, bluefish and ladyfish are out there and are ravenous.  Caught fish everycast today on spoons and gotchas.  Get out there. Tropical development in the near future?

Windy Wednesday

Blowing 15 + out of the NW, basically unrideable except for a desperate longboarder.

Recap: Super fun waves yesterday afternoon and evening East of Pensacola, seems like there sandbars are working much better than ours.  Easy head high on the sets.  No pics, too busy surfing

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Oct 18, 7:15am

Still have waves. Looked around waist-rib high out back, form not that good from a combo of E winds at 10mph and messed up sandbars.  Should be good somewhere else or later when the wind shifts more offshore.

Surfed last night, lots of closeouts, same thing, good sized swell coming in, but not hitting the sandbars right.

Update later. Maybe pictures

Monday, October 17, 2011

2pm update

Low tide pretty much killed it, still swell coming in its just dying and closing out though on the inside bar. Wind SE 10mph, hopefully waves get better toward dark with incoming tide and dying winds.

10-17-2011 First Report

Starting a surf report for the Pensacola Beach area, I live down towards Portofino so thats where most reports will be from in the morning before I head to work. I'll also include links to my photos when I have time to take them.

7.am.  Looked like waist high out back and clean, sandbars down this way are slowly coming back from getting all messed up from TS Lee.  Breaking kind of too fast but hollow. Other reports say its bigger somewhere else. Winds supposed to come up later, hopefully not too bad. Tomorrow should be pretty good. I'll try and update around noon or 330 after work, unless I'm surfing.
